Ignorance is very useful. Just a bit of knowledge kills
what ignorance allows. To be in the world without fear
demands that we don’t fully understand it ; that is why poets and intellectuals
have insomnia and often prefer to stay far from it, in their bibliothèques,
sitting on an old green or burgundy leather chair, or in front of large yet closed window.
In distance, one can view the world more clearly. That is : without fighting
against it, but welcoming it as it is, wholy. There is a form of cowardness
in both postures ; one refuses to confront, prefers to be part of.
Which is which, I do not know.
